Liberty's Point of Sale module has a feature named Category Discounts. This can be found under Setup > Maintain Category Discounts.

Category Discounts allow you to put an entire range of items on sale. This would be utilized when you want to discount "all socks" or "all dresses". You can do an "all dresses are half-off" sale and Liberty will automatically discount these items without an employee having to remember what to do! Here's how to set one up...
1. Click Setup > Maintain Category Discounts
2. Click Add
3. Enter a Description (e.g. 50% Off All Dresses)
4. Select the Category that covers the items you want to assign a discount to
5. Specify the discount percentage
6. Set the expiration date (The default date goes out to 2099, so the sale would run "forever," so to speak. If the sale is only for a weekend, a season, etc., tell Liberty the date you want the sale to run through.)
7. Set a Maximum Value (e.g. if you don't want a discount to generate more than $1,000 in discounts, then enter $1,000.)
8. Make sure Active is checked (you can activate/deactivate sales as you wish, which helps prevent a list of hundreds of different discounts - you can just re-use an existing one by changing its parameters)
9. Click OK
Here is what a finished Category Discount for "50% Off All Dresses" would look like:

Any time I ring up an item that has been entered into the Dress Category...

The item is automatically discounted...
