Please follow the instructions below to restore a backup for version 3.0a and higher:

First, You must know the location of your current backup. For this example my backup is located on my E drive.

Once you have located your backup you can simply double click the file and it will launch the restore utility.

Issue: Double clicking the backup file (.RBK) does not automatically open the Liberty Restore Utility

Cause: The file association was deleted or not applied properly

Resolution: When you attempt to open the .RBK and get a box that says Windows cannot open this file. You should be given a couple of options.

In our case, we want to say: Select the program from a list, then click OK.

Here we will choose where to find the proper program. Click the browse button.

On the Open With... screen, navigate to the C:\RWD folder.

First click the Look in dropdown menu and choose the C drive.

Then open the RWD folder.

Click the rwdback.exe program. Then click Open.

We will be back to the Open With screen. Be sure the box is checked where it says Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.

Then click OK.

The Liberty Restore Utility will launch the backup file. From this point forward, on this machine you should be able to open the restore program by double clicking your backup file (.RBK).
