In Canada, there can be multiple tax levels:
- GST
- PST
- HST
More details on these different levels can be found on Wikipedia...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sales_taxes_in_Canada
In our example, we're going to utilize the GST and PST. In British Columbia, Wiki shows a PST of 7% and a GST of 5% - a combined 12% for those playing along at home.
In Liberty, we first need to create at least one Tax Type (if we do not have one already that is). We do this under Tools > Tax Codes:

Liberty names your default tax, well, "Default." :) Since this is a bit vague, let's change that to something such as "British Columbia." We do this by clicking the "Edit Type" button...

Now, we need to A) edit our existing "Tax Detail" (over to the right there, the one named "Tax 1") and then B) create our second Tax Detail, for our PST sales tax.
Click the "Edit Detail" button so we can edit the existing "Tax 1" detail to suit our needs...

Notice we have one VERY IMPORTANT option selected? For "can this tax be exempted," we set it to "No," since it can NOT be exempted.
Once we click "Save & Add Another," we can move on to our last tax - the PST...

Notice we have "Yes" for the exempted option? This makes it so Point of Sale will charge 12% by default. If one executes a tax exempt sale however, it will remove the PST and leave the GST.
