Liberty utilizes MS SQL Server. As found when searching Google for 'ms sql server port', MS SQL Server communicates on Port 1443...

http://plutonium.cs.umanitoba.ca/ntlabs/MSSQLserver/MSSQLserver-home.html

This is how Liberty talks to MS SQL Server, which means, how Liberty launches, opens and runs. If Liberty can't talk to MS SQL Server, the program will NOT run at all, period.

The only other port Liberty utilizes, is Port 80 - the HTTP port. This is the STANDARD port for HTTP and it is *never blocked, which is why Liberty (and apps such as LogMeIn, TeamViewer, GoToMyPC, etc.) utilize this port. Port access is one thing. Blocked .EXEs is a whole-'nother ball of wax.

Trojans and viruses are MUCH MORE sophisticated these days. No longer is it sufficient enough to block/monitor ports. Since 80 is always open (this is how one gets to the Internet), it now comes down to recognizing nefarious behavior. This is done by rules, heuristics and discovered viruses that make it into the global databases. The problem is, "bad" programs make themselves look like "good" programs and thus, a good program can be blocked by the rules of a security program.

RWX - the programs and services that sync Liberty with the Web - can be explicitly blocked. So, Port 80 might in fact be open BUT, RWX might not be allowed to communicate on that port (or any port). Thus, we now have targeted .EXE blocking.

One MUST contact their security software provider for assistance. Resaleworld is not the entity that can configure these programs. We can help with Liberty, but for this sort of issue, it's best to bring in the company that wrote and now supports the security software in question.
