Liberty's POS module comes with a Gift Certificate fee type...

As well as a Gift Certificate payment button...

Press F6, click Gift Certificate and then enter a dollar amount to sell a Gift Certificate. When the customer comes back to redeem the Gift Certificate, use the Gift Certificate payment button to pay for the item.

We've stayed away from a true gift certificate tracking system, as it has holes. Since all of this information would be stored in a database, what happens if someone uses a gift certificate in the morning, your computer crashes, you have no backup from that morning (rather, the night before), and then restore that database? The customer's card would "replenish." The reason places such as Target can do this, is they have a centralized database all stores connect to. We've asked our customers if they'd be interested in a gift card system and all said "yes," until they saw the cost. So for now, we've found that our way, even combined with manual/paper gift certs, works best - without over complicating things.

What 'cost', maintaince, or development?

We now utilize a gift card system though telecheck. We have cards that we can use for merchandise credits or gift cards now

How do these work in the 'recommerece' gift certificate sense?

Where is the money sent to, how will it show up in liberty / will it?, ... Etc...
