Problem: If you're unable to open the Inventory Module but POS opens fine, please read the following.

Symptoms: The Inventory Module will open briefly displaying the logo then immediately close. When this problem occurs you will sometimes receive a window prompting you to send an error report to Microsoft as well.

Solution: To correct this issue please go to C:\RWD and search for a file named codelib.dll on your server. Make sure you have Liberty closed on your server when performing this operation.

Once you have located the codelib.dll file please delete it. From this point, open Liberty again. This should correct the problem for you.

If problem persists please contact our technical support department at 888-229-0096 or email us at support@resaleworld.com.

RWD.exe is the main executable for Liberty. When you double-click the Liberty4 Consignment icon on your Desktop, it launches RWD.exe. Some of you might be utilizing the VERY NIFTY feature which is,using Liberty to take pictures of your products. We added this quite some time ago and it's been a great enhancement.

This enhancement allows Liberty to talk to Canon cameras via Canon's SDK (Software Developer's Kit). One of the files Liberty needs in order to accomplish this, is named codelib.dll. .dll files are library files that programs link to/utilize in order to execute a certain task. The way in which a program talks to a .dll or what that .dll does, can be scrutinized by 3rd party security software.

So ultimately, a security product of some sort is on the system experiencing this issue. In certain security products, once something is blocked, it can never be un-blocked. With the amount of security products out there, most having multiple types installed on the same system, it's very easy to reach a place where the security is stepping on things.

Our Developers can reprogram Liberty to communicate with this .dll file in a different way though, which should hopefully resolve this issue.

So in a nutshell:

- Liberty communicates with other applications on your computer
- 3rd party security products can impact how programs function with one another
- The Resaleworld Development team is working on a way to better work with the Canon .dlls so that security products do not see this as "suspicious" activity.
