What is everyone's thought about being able to pass along a Credit Card fee to the Consignor for only the sales transactions where the items were purchased with a Credit Card.

I know that Liberty is already capturing that information about form of payment - is there not a way to have Liberty automatically calculate a flat fee (ie. 3%) for all transactions paid via Visa / MasterCard / Debit / Discover / Amex? I have already been training my new consignments that this is in the works and have not had much of an issue from them.

If there is already a way to do this - I would really appreciate your input. I purchased this consignment shop in May 2008 and am fairly new to Liberty.

You might want to check your credit card agreement - I think ours (in Wisconsin) states that we cannot pass any fees onto customers - that we have to charge the same amount for all items regardless of payment method. However, smaller stores here sometimes offer a "cash discount" of say 5% - which ultimately does the same thing if you up all your prices just a little and then by giving the cash discount you really take in the same but don't have any fees to pay and it also encourages people to pay with cash - and then less bank fees for you. Although I haven't done this - I am pretty sure that if you wanted to do it this way you could create a cash discount coupon. Just my thoughts - happy day to you!

"Charging credit card fees to customers"

I believe this is not allowed by most merchant account holders. As TLFM
stated I would highly recommend researching this further with your merchant company. Currently, this is not an option in Liberty 4 Consignment as we have not received such requests in the past. I do believe this is because of merchant
contract agreements stating this cannot be done. However, to compensate for credit fees you can charge item fees and per item deductions by setting up price code rules.

Item fees are charged to buyers and item deductions are charged to consignors.
In any case I would suggest applying these fees to your price codes to help compensate for credit card fees you may be charged.

Keep us posted!

I know you can't pass fees on to the customer for credit cards but you can offer a cash discount... :) (we do not but some stores may!)

We would like to know if we rented out booths, (we charge a monthly fee and take 5%of sales) + Credit Card / Check (telecheck) Fees.

How can we pass on the credit card / check fees to the renter/consignor ?????

This would be a great feature! I would think, as long as the consignor contract states that these fees would be deducted it wouldn't be an issue. I would really like to see this as a feature in L4C.
